Linden Flood Control Project – Contract No. 3
Linden Flood Control Project – Contract No. 3
Project Overview
Owner
City of Linden, NJ
Location
Linden, NJ
Scope of Work
Linden Flood Control Project
The project involved micro-tunneling two runs of 320 LF, 66-inch ID concrete pipe, installation of jacking and receiving pits and installation of 350 LF, 72-inch Hobas pipe open cut. The micro-tunneling portion of the project ran underneath the Northeast Corridor Railroad with cover ranging from 6 to 12 feet. Due to site geometry, the jacking pit was installed within 15 feet of a 500,000 gallon water tank and extra pile reinforcement had to be used to guard against the jacking operation interfering with the stability of the tank. Likewise, a portion of the 72-inch Hobas pipe was installed within 10 feet of the water tank at a depth of 15 feet. Special sheeting design was therefore used to protect the tank.
